Oral-Enhancing & Kid-Friendly Toothpaste Alternative

Posted on

There are several kid-friendly toothpastes in the oral care aisle of your local store. But, you are the kind of parent who wants a natural option that will help keep your child's teeth safe from dental ailments, such as dental erosion and cavities. Thankfully, you can do just that with the following oral-enhancing ingredients and natural toothpaste recipe.

Dental-Friendly Ingredients In Your Toothpaste

The following ingredients give this toothpaste that kick you want:

Raw Honey

The first ingredient that you need to pay attention to is honey. You need to make sure that you purchase raw honey from your local health food store or online. Raw honey-unlike processed honey-still contains bacteria-killing properties that are very helpful if you want to make the best toothpaste possible. Honey contains enzymes that naturally inhibit the formation of new bacteria in your child's mouth. And honey is also high osmotic. That is important because the osmotic nature of honey should drain all moisture from oral microbes. The microbes eventually dehydrate to death when they come into contact with raw honey.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is important because of its cinnamic aldehyde content. Cinnamic aldehyde gives cinnamon that distinct odor and taste. This taste might be fun for your child, but it is quite deadly to the oral bacteria trying to take over your child's mouth. Cinnamic aldehyde grazes and penetrates bacterial outer-chassis. These wounds are so deep that the bacteria eventually die.

Sea Salt

Sea salt-just like the other ingredients-is a great addition to your child's toothpaste. Sea salt is mildly abrasive, which can help lift some of the stains and bacteria from the surface of your child's teeth. Sea salt also has a very high pH value that can help rebalance your child's oral pH value. This is important because oral microbes flourish and survive in an environment with a low pH value. But your sea salt will put them in an uninhabitable environment, effectively diminishing their ability to wreck havoc on your child's teeth.

Remember that these ingredients are only meant to keep your child's teeth. Make sure you are taking your child to the dentist, especially if he or she is complaining about a toothache, which is usually related to dental decay.

Making Your Kid-Friendly Toothpaste

You'll need the following:

  • 1/2 a cup of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of calcium
  • 1 tablespoon of powdered magnesium
  • 2 teaspoons of sea salt
  • 3 tablespoons of raw honey
  • 20 drops of cinnamon oil
  • And 20 drops of peppermint oil

Steps:

  1. Warm the coconut and olive oil with your honey. Wait until the ingredients are blended well. Set this mixture aside.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients, and mix well. There should not be any lumps when you are done.
  3. Pour the content into a clean container that your child can easily handle. Make sure your child shakes the toothpaste each time he or she uses it.

As you can see, taking care of your child's teeth can be done naturally and with ingredients you can trust.
